Shoulder Dislocation

A recent review has sought to address the question of the best position for immobilisation of the shoulder after dislocation. In a systematic review of 5 studies (471 patients) they conclude that there is no benefit in immobilising patients in external rotation as opposed to the current practice of immobilisation in internal rotation.  Vavken, P., et al., Immobilization in internal or external rotation does not change recurrence rates after traumatic anterior shoulder dislocation.
