Basic Education
Daniel was educated at Ysgol Glantaf in Cardiff, and later at St Cyres School in Penarth. He is a fluent welsh speaker. He attended Medical school in Cardiff, gaining his degree in 2000.
Surgical Training
Daniel did his basic surgical training in the South Wales region. He worked in several surgical specialties including Vascular surgery, Orthopaedic surgery, Cardiothoracic surgery and Burns/Plastic surgery. He obtained his surgical membership exam (MRCS) from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
Daniel then did his specialist orthopaedic registrar training on the All Wales training scheme. During this six year rotation he was trained in most aspects of Trauma and Orthopaedics, as he rotated around the hospitals of South Wales.
Surgical Fellowship/Research
Daniel undertook his surgical fellowship in the field of knee arthroplasty and soft tissue knee surgery. This was based with the “Cardiff Sports Orthopaedics” group in the South Wales region, working in both the public and private setting.
As a consultant Daniel continues to maintain an interest in both teaching and research, having previously presented work at national and international meetings.
Consultant Appointment
Daniel was initially appointed as a Locum Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedics at the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport in May 2011. More recently in May 2012 Daniel was appointed as a substantive consultant at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital in Llantrisant.
Daniel has a full time NHS contract, with duties including the provision of general orthopaedic surgery and trauma care.
